The conscientious sociopath is difficult to identify because they are disciplined. They do not leave the trail of chaos you expect from a typical antisocial personality.

However, their neurology gives them away.

Most people experience physical discomfort when lying. Their bodies betray them through nervous tics or changes in vocal pitch.

Individuals with sociopathic traits often display the opposite. This is called “duping delight.” It is a fleeting microexpression of pleasure that surfaces when they successfully deceive someone.

This involuntary tell emerges because deception activates reward pathways in their brains rather than anxiety circuits. They aren’t stressed by the lie. They are optimizing the situation.

I am hosting a webinar this Thursday to break down these neurological markers and how to protect your organization.
